EXT. BUILDING
PANS TO- A POLICE CAR ARRIVING WITH
LEMMY

  ALPHA 60
Everything I plan will be accomplished.

  LEMMY
That’s not certain. I too have a secret.

  ALPHA 60
What is your secret?... Tell me...    Mr. Caution.

  LEMMY
Something that never changes with the night or the day, as long as the past represents the future, towards which it will advance in a straight line, but which, at the end, has closed in on itself into a circle.

  ALPHA 60
I do not know what it is.

  LEMMY
And I am not going to tell you, either.

Venetia Kapernekas Gallery is excited to present an exhibition of new work by visual artist Rey Akdogan, titled Light Flat, September 12th to October 17th.

Light Flat is a single thought explored in various formats. A series of abstract monochromatic drawings in different media arranged in several constellations; in each case they result from processes of silent manipulation. Color information is discarded and sometimes compressed to the extent that the image becomes almost shadowless and flat. Contrast is taken out of the image and rendered in a tangible, mechanical form.

Rey Akdogan is an artist based in New York with an M.A. from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and an alumnus of the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program. Recent exhibitions include: Universal Fittings Ltd, Common Room 2, (New York), Properly Past, Rotunda Gallery (New York), Legal Tender, Kasa Gallery, (Istanbul), Human Game, Winners and Losers, (Florence, Italy), When Artists Say We, Artists Space, (New York), Urban Realities: Focus Istanbul, Martin Gropius Bau, (Berlin), In the Shadow of Fallen Heroes, 2nd Bishkek International Exhibition of Contemporary Art, (Kyrgyzstan). Print projects have recently been featured in publications, such as “Rethinking Marxism” and “FeedBack”.
